Barra Schools serve the islands of Barra and Vatersay in the Outer Hebrides of Scotland. There are approximately 250 children and young people on the school roll between Castlebay Nursery, Eoligarry Primary, Castlebay Primary and Castlebay Secondary School. Education is provided in both English Medium and Gaelic Medium. We value our island heritage and environment while preparing our pupils for the future.

It is a great privilege to serve Barra Schools as Head Teacher and I am proud of the commitment of our staff and young people. Our new school motto of Respect, Aspire, Learn, Achieve ensures that we have the highest standards and expectations for all.

Our staff are dedicated, supportive and focused on achieving positive outcomes for young people. This is evident in our academic attainment and the wider achievements that they accomplish.
