This course focuses on skills in the following areas: numeracy, statistics, finance, measurement, geometry, as well as graphical data and probability skills. Throughout the course pupils will have the opportunity to:
♦ analyse real-life situations and problems involving mathematics
♦ identify valid mathematical operational skills to tackle real-life situations or problems
♦ select and apply numeracy skills
♦ select and apply skills in finance, statistics, measurement, geometry, graphical data
♦ use mathematical reasoning skills to draw conclusions or justify decisions
♦ communicate mathematical information in an appropriate way
The course is assessed in two exam papers:
Paper 1 (non-calculator) 1 hour and 5 minutes (45 marks)
Paper 2 (calculator) — 2 hours (60 marks)
